Here is our latest report from Europe. You can see before-and-after pictures of this church building in the .pdf file at this link. Re-evangelising Europe one village at a time In the very early days of the Reformation, sometime before 1551, an evangelical church was planted in Tordinci, a village in what is now the Republic of Croatia. In 1990-91, the church building and most of the village were destroyed in the civil war and racial cleansing that accompanied the breakup of Yugoslavia. Deserted for almost 10 years, Tordinci came back to life in 1999 when it was again safe to live there. A dynamic national pastor came to the village at the same time and led the villagers in the spiritual and physical rebuilding of their church. With mixed Serbian and Bosnian roots and now a Croatian citizen, this pastor came to an understanding of the Christian faith and salvation through Jesus Christ as a young man. Following required service in what was then the Yugoslavian Army, he entered seminary. He now shares the Gospel by pastoring the church in Tordinci, teaching seminary in nearby Serbia, and encouraging other pastors planting churches in Croatia and Serbia. On November 7, my colleague G. Meyer and I had the privilege of worshiping in this reopened 460-year-old church. The congregation sang a special song of welcome for us, and every one of them came to shake our hands at the end of the service. If you would be interested in making a gift to support the replanting of churches in Tordinci and other Croatian towns, contact me and we’ll look for the best way to see that your gift is used for that purpose. Thank God with me for these believers who are participating in the re-evangelisation of Europe. Please support them with your prayers.
