Dear friends, These past few weeks have again found us in a whirlwind of planning and travel. The first big news is that we will soon have a permanent address. Yay!! After nearly two years of waiting, we will be able to unpack our boxes in a few weeks. We are in the process of buying a house in the Western suburbs of Chicago, near our daughter’s home. So, starting on July 15, this will be our new headquarters and mailing address:
30W050 Mulberry Court This means that moving and settling in will occupy us for the next couple of months. Since we came back from France with almost no furniture, there is a lot of “settling” to do. It is actually rather exciting to be able to start over from scratch after 40+ years of marriage. :-) The next event on our agenda is cataract surgery for Bill. His left eye will be operated on here in Pennsylvania next Wednesday, June 22. We’d appreciate your prayers that all goes smoothly and that the growing limits to his vision will be corrected. For the first time in many years we were able to participate in the triennial General Council of our home denomination. There were representatives from churches all over the US and Canada that met for 3 days in Dallas TX, from June 8 to 10. We were highly encouraged by the emphasis placed on mission outreach in all its forms: short-term mission teams partnering with works in 4 different countries this spring and summer, newly established partnerships with churches in other countries, and a new awareness of the need for linking up with ethnic Christian groups and outreach to foreign students here in the US, with some new programs already in place. We were especially pleased to see involvement by a number of churches which had not before shown interest in missions. Much of Bill’s new responsibility with the Reformed Episcopal Board of Foreign Missions involves channeling and capitalizing on that openness. The “buzz” was there, so strategies now need to be put into place. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. Your partnership is essential to us in all these stimulating new opportunities that have opened for us in the past year. We are thrilled to be part of what God is doing all around the world, and we invite you to be a vital part of it, too. If you need information or ideas on how to do that, please do contact us by email.
