Judy's Profile

February 8, 2011

Many, many thanks to all of you who prayed for us. It was a short session and I am still recuperating from it. I did not feel bad all the time I was in the village but that does not say it was uneventful.

DAY 1- We left for the village; a pastor friend and the pilot came to take us to the airport. I had gotten up early to run out and get ice for our cooler. Got back it and it was a rush. Didn't eat breakfast and didn't take my meds, but it was early and no problem, I thought. I just take everything in the village and have a bit of breakfast there. WRONG. As we were waiting for the folks to come to the plane, I decided to take my meds. My suitcase was nowhere to be found and then the pilot remembered he put them in the truck inside and forgot to take my bag out. Oops!!

We decided to go to the village anyway as it was going to be a short session and manage by chewing on leaves or whatever. We hadn't been to the village for sometime and there were a lot of spider webs outside the house. So I stepped outside to knock down some webs and kill the mommy spiders. I had one foot inside the house and was hanging onto the door a bit, the other foot outside. Then bang… the board on the porch gave way. Now I am a little heavy but the board was completely rotten because of sun and rain. I was suspended in air one leg in the house battered and the other most of the way to the ground and the area where the sun doesn't shine caught in the hole my foot made in the floor of the porch. Boy, did that feel good.

Black and blue, I seemed to be ok. Got up, let the spiders live and started to up-pack and get ready for bed. Now the beginning of DAY 2 was at midnight, right? I missed that. I did take some aspirin before going to bed as I figured I would be really sore. The night was old, (I think I am as well). About 3 a.m., you could hear another resounding bang in the Jungle of Monkey River. My hammock rope broke. I landed flat on my back on the floor. Cathie came running and asking if I was o.k.

I didn't have a clue if I was o.k. or not. But we got a new rope and tied it up again and the next day revealed I was no worse for wear. (But I am worn.) Actually my back felt better than if I had gone to a chiropractor for an adjustment.

Now about the blood pressure. This is only Day 2. We checked out the clinic and they “happened to have something for B.P.” So I took it, ended up taking it twice a day and it has kept my b.p. within normal ranges. I also noted I have soooooo much more energy. I believe that my meds were really taking me down and making me feel very tired all the time.

Another little thing. We discovered that our radio was not working on Day 2. Our battery was not up and our solar panel was on the ground with connections corroded. I tried to fix it but it is now in the city being repaired. So no communication at all from us.

So we got on with the work in the church and got it all painted except the floor. The letters over the front door are painted but the screws to put them up with could not be found. Suitcase maybe? Oh well, the men worked well and the church is looking very nice. We wanted the guys to get the benches done but no chain saw and so the pilot was going to bring in the planed off wood ready to go. The next session we will take the benches in and hopefully that will be done. The men we had out for an intensive Bible School are doing very well and are helping out with the services and are doing witnessing in their own families. PTL Most of the work I wanted to do was in my suitcase so I worked on the church. I guess the book of Esther has to wait till next time. All in all I am not any worse for wear.

I do feel now a lot of soreness that I feel I should have felt in the village. Will be having my everything checked out to make sure all is in running order. I will also see a cardiologist to make sure he understands that I want and need a change in medication and maybe in the Good Providence of God I found that change in the village. I don't like to self medicate and so I will support the cardiologists of the world.

We are here in town and expect an Apurina woman to arrive soon to have a cataract operation. Pray that we can get her in a.s.a.p.

Thanks for all your love and concerns,

In Him,

Judy
