Giving to the REC Board of Foreign Missions

When you donate to RECBFM you can be assured that we will seek to be good stewards of your gift. Our accountability is to The General Council of the Reformed Episcopal Church on a triennial basis.

Current gift dollars help RECBFM immediately. These gifts come from a wide range of donors and can be directed toward a specific missionary or ministry project of your choice, or they may be undesignated, which makes your gift available for meeting RECBFM's most urgent needs at any given time. Examples of such needs include medical insurance for missionaries, addressing a crisis in a country we are serving, holding a conference for missionary inquirers, and helping missionaries to return home for emergencies and furlough.

Gifts with immediate impact for RECBFM include the following:

Gifts of Cash

The simplest way to make a gift to RECBFM is to give a gift of cash by check.

  • By Check:
Use the PDF form at this link to designate your gift to be used for a specific purpose or to be spent where it is needed most. Print the form, complete it, and mail it with your check to:

    Board of Foreign Missions
    c/o Mr. Charles Twining Jr.
    Treasurer
    2112 Fortune Road
    Glenside, PA 19038

  • Securities/Stock
An outright gift of appreciated marketable securities is an attractive method of giving to RECBFM. With long-term appreciated securities (those held longer than 12 months) you receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the gift. You avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation, and you make a difference for the Kingdom of God at BFM with your generous gift. Write to Mr. Charles Twining for information about making a stock gift to RECBFM.

  • Gifts of Real Estate
A gift of real estate can be beneficial to you in several ways. Besides freeing you from the demands of property management, it may also help you avoid capital gains taxes, lower your current income tax, reduce future federal estate taxes, and possibly increase your income. There are several ways to make a gift of real estate: Outright gifts, bargain sales, and lead trusts provide immediate benefits to RECBFM. Write to Mr. Charles Twining for information about making a stock gift to RECBFM.

Other Giving Opportunities

With the following methods you can invest in the ministry over the long term:

  • Insurance
Life insurance provides a unique avenue for charitable support. To qualify as a deductible contribution, RECBFM must become both the owner and beneficiary of the policy. If the policy is paid up, your charitable contribution is usually the replacement value or cost basis of the policy, whichever is less. Ongoing premiums paid on a contributed life insurance policy also may qualify for charitable deduction.

  • Bequests
A well-conceived will provides a unique opportunity to ensure that the blessings of a lifetime are distributed according to your wishes and in a fashion consistent with your priorities. Your will can serve as a lasting expression of your Christian witness. Through a bequest to RECBFM you can express your hope and confidence in the mission of RECBFM. Please consult with your attorney concerning the best way for you to make a bequest to RECBFM in your will.

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. As it is written:

He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever.

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.

For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God, while, through the proof of this ministry, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal sharing with them and all men, and by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you.

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
