A group of liturgical evangelical parishes and ministers in Croatia and Serbia had considered joining the Reformed Episcopal Church for several years. Bishop Gerhard Meyer and The Rev. Bill Jerdan visited them in Fall 2010, and Bishops Grote and Meyer were in Croatia in May 2011 to officially receive them as Reformed Episcopalians under the oversight of our Church in Germany.
In early May 2011, the Croatian believers received the keys to a 400-year old building used for church services in the past. The first service of Good Shepherd Reformed Episcopal Church in Osijek, Croatia was held in that building Sunday May 15 with about 20 people attending. The building is well placed in this regional capital, but it is in need of much repair. So in the summer of 2011, a team of North American RE’s joined Croatian Anglicans in painting and fixing this edifice for the world's newest R.E. Church. The building is being used as a center for preaching the Gospel and reaching people in the heart of Europe.
